LIBERTY: The Jersey Central Lines Today

Remains of the CNJ Pennsylvania Division

Jersey Central Lines: Glendon

A before-and-after shot of a westbound CNJ freight with four SD35's at Glendon Hill Road circa 1970 and today. The rails are still in the pavement and the base for the crossing signal as well as the base for automatic signal 742 remain as well.

View of three sets of rail still crossing Glendon Hill Road, the two main tracks and a siding.

This is the first of many large dressed stone arch bridges found along the L&S main line between Easton and Bethlehem.

What remains of Milepost 75.

View of the right of way. At this point there were three tracks- the two main tracks and a siding that extended from Odenwelder to Glendon.

Bridge 75/16, another stone arch.

Concrete base of automatic signal 752, which has an NGS Benchmark mounted on it. Benchmarks are used actively in surveying. There are several located on or near the CNJ.

After passing through Glendon, the line enters Palmer Township and is paved for about four miles to a point near Hope and is maintained as a hiking and biking path.

Another dressed stone arch near the famous Chain Dam.

And a short distance away is another stone arch, bridge 76/79. Note the large Keystone and also notice the railbed is raised about a foot.
